  • How can FAQs help you?
These are quick answers to some common questions which might save you time rather than contacting us, although we're always happy to hear from you!
  • Are products Vegetarian or Vegan?
All of our products are vegetarian. Many of them are Vegan. Our Honey and Bucks Fizz, Pink Fizz and Beer soap are not Vegan.
  • Why is glycerine added to the soaps?
We don’t actually add glycerine to our soaps; it is produced naturally in the process of saponification. Lots of big soap makers remove the glycerine as it can be sold; we leave it in as it helps nourish the skin.
  • Does the Skin Hug Soapery test on animals?
No – we never test our human products on animals. We test our recipes on ourselves and then send them off for cosmetic safety assessments to be completed. The only exceptions are our dog care products. We tested them on ourselves first and then our family pets used them. Shampooch is a variant of our hair and body bars which were certified safe for humans.
  • Do products contain SLS and SLES?
No – we only use natural ingredients.
  • Can soap be used to wash hair?
You can use our soap to wash your hair, we have lots of customers who do. We recommend if you are starting to use our solid shampoos or you’re trying a soap that you lather the bar in your hands for the first few washes and put the lather on your hair, rather than rubbing the bar directly on to it.
  • Why are ingredients listed as Sodium Cocoate for example?
Sodium Cocoate is actually saponified Coconut Oil. Sounds strange we know! In the process of making soap using hot or cold methods, natural oils and butters go through a process of saponification by adding a lye solution. This causes a chemical reaction and turns the oils and butters in to soap, which changes the name we can call them. The Lye does not survive saponification so there is NO lye in our soaps.
  • Should I rub the solid shampoo bar on my hair?
We recommend if you are starting to use our solid shampoos or you’re trying a soap that you lather the bar in your hands for the first few washes and put the lather on your hair, rather than rubbing the bar directly on to it.
  • Do products use palm oil?
We do not use Palm oil in any of soap or shampoo our products. There is a tiny amount of responsibly sourced palm in our serums.
  • Why are soaps wrapped?
We wrap our soaps in either glassine paper or nature flex film, this helps to preserve the essential oils in the soaps.
  • What is Nature Flex?
Nature flex is a starch based film which is fully compostable.
  • Can I cancel an order?
We cannot cancel an order after it has been dispatched. If you need to cancel an order please contact us.
  • Can Glassine paper be recycled?
Yes – it can be recycled in with your paper and card household recycling.
